It's Better to Give Than Receive
Blog post written by Hailey Ramsey (age 9), McKinney, Texas
My name is Hailey. I am 9 years old and my mom leads His Hands His Feet. This is my first trip to El Salvador and I LOVE IT HERE! My mom asked me to share about one of my favorite experiences. I loved building the house, feeding the homeless, going to the lake, being in a Spanish speaking church, doing face painting along with my cousin Naomi and everything about this trip. But the Christmas party was so cool. I want to tell you about that.
Our team worked really hard for a great big party that was held at the beach. There were more than 750 people there and it was so much fun. We got to serve hot dogs, popcorn, chips, cookies and snow cones. I spent so much time making popcorn with my cousin the night before the party. My job at the party was to hand out bags of popcorn. Stephanie gave me a really neat necklace the morning of the party. I really liked it. It had Christmas decorations on it. My mom got one too. At the end of the day, I noticed one of the kids looking at my necklace. I thought that it would be really nice to give it to her. So I talked to my mom and dad about it. And I did it. She was SO HAPPY! She ran over to her mom and showed it to her. It felt SO GOOD to give. And my mom reminded me that Jesus said that it is better to give than receive!
